What’s the Future of Data Scientist Jobs Post Covid-19

Data Scientist Jobs Post Covid-19

If you are currently working as a data scientist or aspiring to become a data scientist, you must be wondering about the future of data scientist role. Ongoing covid-19 pandemic situation across the world have created limited option for all of us. Scientists are trying their best to develop the vaccine and so far human trials with minor success has restored the trust. The worst affected sectors such as Airlines, Automotive and Manufacturing units is facing huge revenue. Due Covid-19 affect employees are losing job everyday and they are looking for new opportunities. The hush and rush to get a new job has created lots of chaos & competition among the peers.

Is Data Scientist good choice for You?

I must tell you, the choice is not good to be easy if you are specialised in another field or domain. Coming to my question part, Is data scientist a good choice for you? so the answer is Yes and No depends on your learning capability and interest. The market has shown positive strength towards the data scientist role. And the demand for data scientists will be on peak in upcoming months because of the advancement of machine learning and deep learning techniques. Machine learning prediction models used by universities, government and private companies has shown us how the virus is spreading over time. Techniques like Time Series modelling is very useful to predict the outcome based on the historical data. As a result, if you are serious about the role then you must take advantage of this time to prepare yourself for this role.

Prepare For Data Scientist Role During Covid-19

Having said that, the growth in Artificial Intelligence has shown significant spikes over time. If you are an aspiring data scientist and looking to prepare for job then you must be clear with Data Science Syllabus.

  1. Maths – Yes you have read it right, make sure you have covered your basics in Statistics, Probability & Linear Algebra. Having knowledge of Matrices, Calculus & Advanced statistics would be very beneficial
  2. Python – Python is a great programming language. It’s easy to learn in no time and it can do wonders with powerful libraries.
  3. Machine Learning Algorithms: To understand algorithms you must understand statistics first. Algorithms such as linear regression, logistic regression, Tree based algorithms, K-means etc with few lines of code can give you outstanding results.
  4. Deep Learning Concepts: Not everyone is expertise in deep learning. Having hands on with deep learning framework such as tensorflow, keras etc would give you extra advantage when its come competition.

Once you start looking for data science related materials online you would come across thousands of tutorials and guide. Take advantage of covid-19 situation to build your strong portfolio. However, if you have just started with i would recommend you to look for the below courses.

Different Kind of Role for A Data Scientist:

There are various kind of roles which comes under the data science. The role & responsibilities of a data scientist is to understand the data and predict the future outcome. I have listed some of the below job roles which are similar as Data Scientist:

  1. Machine Learning Engineer
  2. Computer Vision Engineer
  3. AI Engineer
  4. Deep Learning/NLP Engineer
  5. Researcher

As you can understand from the role, the requirements for Engineers is huge so as the number of jobs in the industry. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic the number of hirings is slowing down over the last few months but it does not means that it’s going to affect the job of data scientist in future.

As a data scientist you learn through the past to make the future better
